GONE VIRTUAL: Elevating Conservation: Empowering + Connecting Nebraska Nature + Science Educators
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission in partnership with the Nebraska Alliance for Conservation and Environment Education is pleased to announce a conference specifically for Nebraska’s informal environment and nature educators. The conference, taking place January 18-19, 2022, will provide attendees with opportunities to learn from each other, network and elevate conservation education across the state. Many of our state’s conservation and nature education organizations were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and, as a result, networking and collaborations declined. This conference will be a chance to come together as a professional community and not only learn from each other but also work to develop or renew partnerships. Full conference registration will be opened in mid-October.

Conference session proposals are now being accepted for three conference strands:
Educational theory and practices
WHY we do what we do and the science behind it; focus on educational pedagogy or new advances in science communicating or research on engaging different audiences.
Practical applications and success stories
HOW we do what we do to engage audiences; highlighting successful programs that reach new audiences. We want to hear about the program, why it was implemented and what successes and stumbles you encountered along the way.
3-hour Workshop or Field Trip
Workshops that provide participants with knowledge and skills to teach as well as hands-on curriculum or resources. Or, field trips to local sites which showcase exemplary educational exhibits or natural ecosystems. The 3-hour time limit for field trips must include travel as well as exploration and learning.

Full conference registration will be opened in mid-October along with a nomination form for the Educator of the Year Award.
