CE: Science of Nocturnal Animals
The darkness has always been a little bit of a mystery to those that are diurnal (animals that are awake during the day), but for nocturnal animals, the dark is a place of comfort. These animals such as opossums, raccoons, skunks, and owls all have developed specific physical traits that let them wander in the dark more efficiently. But exactly how do these animals figure out where they are going in the dark? What special characteristics have they developed over time to survive in their ominous and dark environment? In this Science Of episode we will be looking at animals in Nebraska that are considered nocturnal and what makes them so specially adapted to this time of day.
