CE: Gardening for Diversity: Garden Prep & Groundwork

Wednesday, May 17, 2023
6:30 pm7:30 pm
Hitchcock Nature Center Honey Creek IA

Perfect for beginning gardeners and anyone who is interested in supporting native plantings in their outdoor spaces, Gardening for Diversity will give you the confidence and background knowledge you need to grow a beautiful native garden that supports local wildlife and provides other great benefits for you and your community!

Help us help pollinators! We will turn a habitat desert into a beautiful and beneficial native plant community. During this last workshop, we will discuss how to space and layout plants, and give you plenty of chances to learn how to plant plugs and get a close-up look at each species. Location information will be emailed to participants a week before the program.

Ages 14+ please. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.

Please meet in Meeting Room B.

Participants can pick and choose which sessions they would like to attend, but we recommend attending as many as possible to ensure you build a strong foundational knowledge.

Session topics include:

Part 1: Introduction to Pollinators and Native Plants, March 15th
Part 2: Native Garden Basics, April 19th
Part 3: Selecting Native Species, May 3rd
Part 4: Garden Prep & Groundwork, May 17th
