Time: Speaker at 2 PM, BRIEF Business meeting after Jan's talk (~3:15 or so?)
Doors to the building will be unlocked 20-30 minutes before 2 PM.
What:
1) Garden columnist Jan Riggenbach will give a talk entitled: "Shady Characters with Midwest Roots" focusing on plants for shade and part shade, including native forbs, shrubs, and small trees that support birds, butterflies, and pollinators. This will count as CE hours.
2) Brief business meeting (mainly election results)
Speaker Bio: Jan Riggenbach’s newspaper and magazine columns have been inspiring gardeners for 45 years. “Midwest Gardening,” Jan’s weekly syndicated garden column, appears in newspapers throughout the Midwest, including the Omaha World-Herald, Chicago Daily Herald, and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Her latest book, “Your Midwest Garden: An Owner’s Manual,” is an updated collection of readers’ favorite columns with charts and index added for easy reference. After growing hundreds of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, vines, vegetables, herbs and fruits on 30 acres in southwest Iowa for 36 years, Jan now enjoys gardening on a smaller scale in the city.
